Reading: “Men, Women and Motors”

Stories of racing drivers in the Meßmer Momentum

On October 24, 2018 actor Wanja Mues had read from “Men, Women and Motors” by Alfred Neubauer, who was the Mercedes race director from 1926 to 1955. A relaxed tea experience had accompanied the stories about thunderous engines, bold strategists and ingenious gamblers, women with composure, the risky hunt for records and the dramatic fight on the home straight. We heard of Rudolf Caracciola and his success at the Avus in 1926, of Bernd Rosemeyer, who died in 1938 in an attempt for world record on the Frankfurt freeway and of Stirling Moss and Juan Fangio in their Mille Miglia mission in 1955. Percussionist Stefan Weinzierl had soundtrack this event.
